HERE TO HELP
Do you have extreme dental anxiety?
Does your child have a fear of the dentist that prohibits them from cooperating?
Does your patient have a physical and/or mental disability that limits access to dental care?
Do you have a severe gag reflex?
Do you have difficulty getting numb with local anesthesia?
Do you or your child have a significant amount of dental treatment that will require multiple visits & days from work?
At Southern Office-Based Anesthesia, we believe that
every patient should have access to a painless and
comfortable dental experience.
We are dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and affordable hospital-grade anesthetic experience in the comfort of the dental office thus allowing the dental provider to focus solely on rendering high-quality dental care.
We specialize in providing all levels of anesthesia in the office setting. These levels range from conscious sedation to general anesthesia. We enjoy working with our dental providers and staff, and most importantly taking care of our patients. We work closely as a part of the dental team to provide you, the patient, the safe and comfortable experience that you deserve.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Most dental cases can be done under local anesthesia alone or sometimes in conjunction with an oral sedative and nitrous oxide sedation. However, certain complex cases, anxious patients, and children may require a more controlled and deeper level of anesthesia. The degree of anesthesia in such cases can vary between moderate-deep sedation and general anesthesia.
Moderate sedation is a drug-induced depression of consciousness in which the patient can respond purposefully to verbal or tactile stimuli. This is often referred to as a “twilight” sedation.
Deep sedation is defined as a drug-induced loss of consciousness in which the patient cannot be easily aroused or respond purposefully to verbal or tactile stimuli.
General anesthesia is a drug-induced loss of consciousness in which the patient is not arousable regardless of the type of stimulus.
There are certain cases in which one level of anesthesia is preferred over another, but ultimately this depends on the type of treatment being provided and what is safest for the patient. Together, we will determine the ideal level of anesthesia where patient comfort meets safety and ideal treatment conditions.
